Reggie Meaders
 |
Reggie Meaders is the second son of Cheever and Arie Meaders. Like his brothers, he grew up with his hands in the clay and the desire to make pottery never left him.
Reggie married Flossie Thomas of Hall County, GA in September of 1942, and they had three children, Lamar, Gloria and David. David became an accomplished potter in his own right. Reggie returned to Georgia after a stint in the army to help win WWII and, like several of his cousins, didn’t make much pottery again until after he retired. But after he turned back to the wheel, he soon found there was no shortage of demand for his ware.
Well-known for his face jugs, Reggie is also famous for his legendary animal creations. These include pigs, poultry, owls, elephants and dinosaurs, usually done in his distinctive brownish glaze.
In his eight decade, Reggie can still be found turning out new creations, usually with his wife Flossie, at their shop in the north end of Hall County. |
